DPS International’s “Royal Christmas” Carnival Supports Underprivileged Children Through Aliya Charitable Trust

by Ranjith Subeditor

DPS International, Gurgaon, a renowned IB continuum school, recently hosted a vibrant “Royal Christmas” carnival to support the Aliya Charitable Trust, a non-denominational charity dedicated to providing vital medical and educational assistance to underprivileged children.

The event, led by the school’s students, was designed to embody the institution’s values of empathy, international-mindedness, and community service. The day-long carnival saw an impressive turnout, with students, parents, alumni, and the wider Gurgaon community coming together to enjoy a wide range of activities. These included amusement rides, global cuisine food stalls, games, student performances, artisanal crafts, and interactive activities. Every element of the carnival was designed and executed by the school’s students and staff, emphasising the school’s commitment to fostering service-learning and hands-on community engagement.

The proceeds from the carnival will benefit the Aliya Charitable Trust’s ongoing initiatives, which include free eye check-up camps, the distribution of spectacles, prosthetic limbs for children, financial aid for life-saving surgeries, vaccination drives, and hygiene-awareness workshops in underprivileged areas.

Ms. Rima Singh, Head of School at DPS International, shared her thoughts on the event: “At DPS International, we view education as a journey that shapes both the mind and the heart, helping students grow into compassionate global citizens. Our Carnival reflects the spirit of the IB curriculum, where students actively contribute to real-world needs. We are proud to support Aliya Charitable Trust in ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial constraints.”

The school’s vibrant multicultural community encourages curiosity, global thinking, and holistic development through academics, the arts, sports, and real-world experiences. This was clearly reflected during the carnival parade, where students and parents collaborated in a lively ramp walk, showcasing sustainable fashion in celebration of a greener world.

The collaboration between DPS International and Aliya Charitable Trust reinforces the school’s core belief that inclusive education and empathetic action go hand in hand. As a member of the prestigious DPS Society and under the leadership of Pro Vice Chairperson Ms. Devyani Jaipuria, the school follows the full International Baccalaureate continuum, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).

DPS International warmly welcomes prospective parents and students for campus tours on select days throughout the week.
