The payment of tuition fee for kids who received seats in private schools under the 25% quota of the Right to Education (RTE) would rely on the outcome of the case, according to interim orders granted by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday.
The State Government recently issued GO 24 declaring that the Amma Vodi financial aid programme must be used to cover the tuition for pupils who received places in private schools under the 25% quota of the Right to Education.
Koganti Srikanth, the leader of the Independent Schools Management Association (ISMA), and Gollapudi Mohan Rao, the leader of the United Private Educational Institutions Federation (UPEIF), both challenged the decision and went before the High Court. They pleaded with the court to order the government to pay the fee directly to the school administration rather than to the student’s mother’s account.
Counsel for the petitioners claimed that the government had improperly calculated the charge for the 25% quota. The school education department was told by Justice G. Ramakrishna Prasad to submit a counter with all the necessary information. The hearing in the case was postponed until March 15.
