Bengaluru’s Canadian International School (CIS) will host the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) Weekend Workshop, themed *“Designing for Inquiry: Cultivating Curiosity, Motivation, and Engagement”*, on 20–21 September 2025. The two-day professional learning event will bring together educators from across South and East Asia, reaffirming CIS’s dedication to advancing innovative teaching methodologies.
The workshop focuses on inquiry-based learning, a student-centred approach that encourages curiosity, reflection, and engagement. This model empowers learners to progress from passive recipients of information to active constructors of meaning. Participants will explore strategies to design inquiry-led experiences that enhance conceptual understanding while fostering deeper student involvement.
Over the course of the sessions, educators will examine how curiosity and motivation can drive student achievement and strengthen classroom engagement. The programme will highlight the application of inquiry-based practices across different grade levels and subject areas, moving beyond rote memorisation to promote a deeper grasp of concepts.
CIS’s educational philosophy has consistently centred on nurturing, challenging, and empowering learners to take ownership of their education. The inquiry model embodies this vision by encouraging active participation and independent thought. Hosting the EARCOS Weekend Workshop allows CIS to extend this philosophy beyond its campus, creating a collaborative platform for educators across the region to share insights, reflect on practices, and design impactful learning experiences.
By positioning itself as a hub for professional development, CIS continues to play a vital role in shaping progressive education. The workshop will provide opportunities for teachers to exchange ideas, explore best practices, and gain practical strategies that can transform classroom teaching and inspire students to become lifelong learners.
