Greenwood High International Campus, Sarjapur, proudly hosted the Greenwood High Model United Nations (GWHMUN) 2025, a three-day conference that showcased teamwork, diplomacy, and collaboration. Centred on the theme *“Empathy in a Changing World”*, the event encouraged young delegates to reimagine leadership rooted in compassion and global understanding.
The conference drew over 577 delegates from 50 schools, representing more than 150 nations across 11 dynamic committees. Through critical simulations of international crises and United Nations proceedings, participants engaged in robust debates, negotiated resolutions, and sharpened their skills in diplomacy, listening, and consensus-building.
Adding gravitas to the event was Ambassador T.S. Tirumurti, former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. With a distinguished 37-year career in the Indian Foreign Service, Ambassador Tirumurti inspired students by emphasising empathy, inclusivity, and dialogue as the cornerstones of effective diplomacy. His address resonated deeply, urging delegates to look beyond borders and statistics to focus on the human stories at the heart of global issues.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Mrs Niru Agarwal, Managing Trustee of Greenwood High International School, said: *“GWHMUN 2025 has been a remarkable display of intellect, confidence, and collaboration. It was inspiring to see students engage with global challenges with such maturity and conviction. Platforms like this not only strengthen analytical and leadership skills but also nurture empathy, dialogue, and respect for diverse perspectives.”*
Beyond debate, the conference provided a transformative learning experience. Delegates enhanced their public speaking, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities while engaging in simulations that demanded adaptability and persuasive communication. Each committee witnessed passionate deliberations, underscoring the depth of student engagement.
The event’s success was made possible by the meticulous planning of the student secretariat and dedicated faculty advisors. More than an academic exercise, GWHMUN 2025 emerged as a journey of leadership, learning, and global citizenship, reflecting Greenwood High’s commitment to nurturing informed, empathetic, and responsible future leaders.
