India’s education sector has seen a year of remarkable progress in 2025, with significant strides in foundational learning, curriculum development, and technological integration, according to Prajodh Rajan, Co-Founder and Group CEO of Lighthouse Learning.
Reflecting on the year, Rajan remarked, “The year 2025 has been a year of meaningful progress for school education in India. The increased emphasis on the foundational stage, the operationalization of new curriculum frameworks, and the planned integration of AI across the K–12 journey have together signaled a clear and mature direction for the sector.” These developments, he believes, signal a collective commitment towards strengthening educational ecosystems and enhancing teaching practices.
Rajan highlighted the rising expectations from all stakeholders in the education ecosystem. He noted, “Parents are seeking deeper learning experiences in the early years; teachers are working to balance academic rigour with socio-emotional development and experiential learning; and schools are being encouraged to offer continuity and coherence across the Pre-K to K-12 journey.” This alignment, according to him, points towards the sector’s steady evolution towards higher-quality and more inclusive learning environments.
Looking ahead to 2026, Mr. Rajan identified clear priorities: supporting teachers through the evolving pedagogical landscape, enhancing the role of technology in education, and ensuring that every child receives an engaging and developmentally appropriate experience. He concluded, “The sector is well-positioned for this next phase, and our shared responsibility, as contributors to the nation’s education mission, is to guide this transition thoughtfully, with a focus on sustained impact and the long-term wellbeing of our learners.”
As India moves into the new year, the path ahead for the education sector is one of growth, innovation, and inclusion. With the right guidance and focus, the country is poised to continue its progress towards a more dynamic and forward-looking education system.
