Karnataka and AP change school timings due to Ramadan

by

School timings in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have been changed to support students in observing the holy month of Ramadan without compromising on their academic commitments. This change specifically accommodates students in Urdu and other minority language schools.

The Directorate of Urdu and Other Minority Language Schools in Karnataka has issued a circular altering the school timings for junior, senior, and high schools during the month of Ramadan, shifting them from 8 AM to 12:45 PM. The circular instructs schools to implement the necessary measures accordingly.

Similarly, the School Education Department in Andhra Pradesh has adjusted the timings for Urdu medium primary, upper primary, high schools, parallel sections, and Urdu Medium DIETS statewide. The new schedule is in effect from March 12th to April 10th, 2024, with timings changed from 8 AM to 1:30 PM.

According to the circular, the decision to change the timings during Ramadan was made in response to an appeal from the Minority Teachers Association. The notice also clarified that the adjustment in timings will not impact the SSC Public Examinations or any other exams.
