In the summer of 1943, at a time when girls’ education was still constrained by social conventions and the practice of purdah, a bold and visionary step changed the educational landscape of Rajasthan forever. Her Highness Rajmata Gayatri Devi Sahiba of Jaipur, driven by an unshakeable belief in the power of education to transform lives, founded Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School—today fondly known as MGD Girls’ School.
What began with just 24 students under the able guidance of the school’s first Principal, Miss Lillian G. Lutter, and the steadfast support of His Highness Sir Sawai Man Singh II, has grown into one of India’s most respected Residential cum Day schools for girls’ education.
