The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Tuesday began the matriculation and intermediate board examinations across the state, with more than seven lakh students appearing at designated centres.
The examinations will continue until February 23. According to official data, 4,23,821 students have registered for the Class 10 (matriculation) exams, while 3,24,321 candidates are appearing for the intermediate examinations.
Among intermediate students, 90,579 are from the science stream, 21,195 from commerce, and 2,12,557 from the arts stream.
Exam Centres and Schedule
To facilitate the smooth conduct of exams, the JAC has established 1,232 examination centres for matriculation candidates and 757 centres for intermediate students across Jharkhand. Authorities have directed students and examination staff to strictly adhere to the prescribed timetable, with exams scheduled to run uninterrupted through February 23.
All examinations are being conducted in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs issued by the council. These measures are aimed at ensuring fairness, transparency, and the prevention of malpractice during the examination period.
Security and Monitoring
In view of security and discipline, prohibitory orders have been enforced within a 200-metre radius of all examination centres. Magistrates have been deployed at centres to monitor proceedings and ensure a secure environment for students and staff.
Officials have warned that any violation of examination guidelines or instances of misconduct will invite strict action under applicable rules. Parents and guardians have also been urged to ensure that students arrive at their centres on time and to avoid crowding near entry gates.
With the examinations now underway, students across the state are focused on completing their papers amid tight supervision. The JAC has stated that the combination of strict SOPs, adequate infrastructure, and administrative oversight is intended to provide a safe and fair examination environment for all candidates.
