As the Union Budget approaches, the education sector is witnessing rising expectations amid growing practical challenges across the country. Sahil Bista, Founder of Shiva Tutorials, has called for a significant increase in budgetary allocation for education, stressing that stronger investment is essential for India’s ambition to emerge as a global talent and education hub.
Sharing his views ahead of the budget, Bista said the sector requires urgent and sustained financial support. He noted, “Like several experts, I too believe that the budget should allocate more funds for the education sector in view of India’s ambition to become a global talent and education hub.” He added that increased funding would play a critical role in strengthening multiple dimensions of the education ecosystem.
Highlighting key priority areas, Bista said, “If there is more allocation of funds, it will help strengthen skilling, speed up digital transformation which is the need of the hour and take care of the underdeveloped regions of the country.” He emphasised that equitable development must remain central to policy planning, especially for regions that continue to lag in educational infrastructure and access.
Bista also underlined the importance of technology-driven learning in the future education landscape. “It is also important that the budget should lay more emphasis on AI-based learning platforms and cybersecurity training,” he said. Referring to innovation-led initiatives, he added, “Besides like last budget, we expect the budget will lay stress on Atal Tinkering Labs which had been planned over five years to foster innovation.”
Addressing systemic challenges, Bista pointed to the need for reforms in human resources and quality standards. He stated that the budget must focus on “addressing teacher shortages, stepping up the quality of education and promoting skill development.” He further stressed the importance of policy alignment with national reforms, noting that the budget should be in line with the National Education Policy and focus on aligning education with the demands of the future job market.
Summing up his expectations, Bista said, “In a nutshell, the increased allocation will only facilitate the creation and enhancement of education infrastructure which will help schools provide a conducive atmosphere.” His remarks reflect a broader call from the education community for stronger financial commitment to build a future-ready, inclusive, and innovation-driven education system.
