West Bengal HS 2026: CCTV Cameras Mandatory At Centres, Strict Security Checks Announced

by Triparna Ray

To ensure fair and smooth examinations, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has announced enhanced monitoring and security measures for the Class 12 (Higher Secondary) examinations, scheduled to be held from February 12 to February 27, 2026.

The council has made it mandatory to install CCTV cameras at all examination centres. As per the standard operating procedure, cameras must be installed at the main entrances and confidential rooms of each centre. Centre in-charges have been directed to ensure that all cameras function properly and that CCTV footage is preserved until April 30, 2026.

In addition, strict security checks will be enforced at exam centres. All candidates will be frisked using metal detectors at the time of entry. The frisking will be conducted by teaching and non-teaching staff in the presence of police personnel. Police intervention will be limited to situations involving disturbances or law-and-order concerns.

According to the guidelines, examination hall doors will open one hour before the exam begins and will be closed once the examination starts. In emergency situations, late entry may be permitted up to 10:30 am for Semester IV and Higher Secondary exams under the old annual system, and up to 1:30 pm for the Semester III supplementary examination. Candidates entering late will not be given additional time to write the exam.
