by admin

In a detailed presentation marking the completion of 100 days in office, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday shared a progress report on the government’s educational initiatives. The report card highlights key reforms aimed at expanding access to quality education, enhancing infrastructure, and providing support for students preparing for competitive examinations.

Free Online Coaching for Competitive Exams
One of the most notable announcements in the report is the launch of free online coaching for NEET 2025 and CUET UG 2025 aspirants, aimed at supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds in preparing for highly competitive national entrance exams. This initiative is part of the broader Madan Mohan Malviya Vidya Shakti Mission, under which 2,200 students will receive academic assistance. Among them, 1,200 students will receive focused coaching for JEE and other professional entrance tests.

Establishment of 75 New Government Schools
The Cabinet has approved the creation of 75 new CM Shri Schools, a major step toward increasing school infrastructure and reducing the burden on existing institutions. These schools are expected to offer modern facilities and promote holistic development in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).

Grants and Direct Benefit Transfers for Higher Education
To support higher education institutions, the Delhi government has released Rs 274.34 crore as the first installment of grant-in-aid to 12 Delhi University colleges. In addition, under the Delhi Higher Technical Education Support Scheme, a sum of Rs 19 crore has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of 1,300 students, allowing them to continue their studies without financial hurdles.

Digital Learning and Language Labs
Emphasising the integration of technology in classrooms, the government has announced plans to digitise and modernise 250 school libraries. As part of its digital education strategy, the government will install:
100 AI-powered Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Language Labs for foreign language acquisition.

100 general language labs to strengthen communication skills across government schools.
These facilities are expected to improve language proficiency and broaden students’ career prospects.

Laptop Distribution to Meritorious Students
Under the Mukhyamantri Digital Education Scheme, the government plans to distribute 1,200 laptops to top-performing students by September 2025. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure access to learning resources for academically strong students from all socio-economic backgrounds.

Regulating Private School Fees and Uniform Rates
Addressing parental concerns over arbitrary fee hikes in private schools, the Delhi government has introduced the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025. This proposed legislation seeks to establish a transparent mechanism for determining school fees and ensure accountability in private educational institutions.
Additionally, the government has proposed a revision in school uniform rates to make them more affordable for families.

Response to Fee Hike Controversy
Touching upon the ongoing fee hike issue involving Delhi Public School, Minister Sood criticized the previous administration’s failure to resolve the matter. “It’s a long-pending issue,” he said. “Rumours are being spread, and questions are being raised against our government. But the real question is—why didn’t the previous AAP government act decisively

when they were in power?”
The Delhi government’s 100-day education report reflects an ambitious vision focused on accessibility, digitisation, and accountability. Stakeholders, including students, educators, and parents, are now awaiting the implementation of these announcements and further clarity on timelines and procedures.
