The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE) has revised the examination timings for select Class 12 board exams scheduled on February 17 and February 24, 2026. The affected papers, which were earlier slated for the morning shift, will now be conducted in the evening shift.
According to the updated schedule, morning shift exams will continue to be held from 8.30 am to 11.45 am, while the evening shift exams will take place from 2 pm to 5.15 pm. The revised timings apply to the Computer Science and Informatics practical examinations on February 17 and the Painting examination on February 24.
Why Were the Exam Timings Changed?
RBSE said the decision was taken after the number of enrolled students exceeded the seating capacity at several examination centres. The board found that over 140 schools were overcrowded for the February 17 examination, while more than 450 schools faced similar issues for the February 24 paper.
Following complaints from students and schools, the Education Department conducted an immediate review and decided to revise the examination schedule to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of exams.
The original RBSE Class 12 date sheet for 2026 was released on December 19, 2025. The Rajasthan Board Class 12 examinations are scheduled to be held from February 12 to March 11, while Class 10 exams will take place from February 12 to February 28.
Board Exams Twice a Year From 2026–27
Earlier, RBSE announced that board examinations will be conducted twice a year starting from the 2026–27 academic session. The first examination will be mandatory, while the second will be optional, allowing students to improve their scores in up to three subjects.
Both exams will cover the entire syllabus, and the best score from the two attempts will be considered for the final result. The move aims to reduce exam-related stress, offer greater flexibility, and promote continuous learning.
RBSE’s decision is in line with the two-session examination system introduced by CBSE, where students are permitted to appear for board exams twice in an academic year, with the higher score taken as final.
