Nineteen years ago, I stepped into this noble profession, along with my little son who was just beginning his own schooling. What started as a small step into kindergarten classrooms has now grown into my life’s passion. It all began with nurturing little ones in their first steps of learning, then guiding curious minds in Grade 1, and now teaching Mathematics to Grade 5 and 6 students. It has been a wonderful journey.
Mathematics is often seen as a difficult subject, but my main motive has always been to make children look forward to my class—to see it as fun, creative and meaningful. Each day I walk into the classroom with the hope of changing a child’s perspective, helping them discover the joy of problem-solving and the beauty of numbers.
Even after all these years, I feel energetic, thanks to my students who keep me motivated. Despite the ups and downs along the way, I have never lost my passion for the profession and never once wanted to give it up.
On this Teachers’ Day, I feel deeply grateful to my mentors, my family, my friends and my colleagues who have been a part of this fulfilling journey. Teaching is no longer my profession; it is my passion and my pride.
